CBD Lowers Blood Pressure
Can CBD lower blood pressure? Yes! In fact, one of the “side effects” listed when prescribing CBD as a treatment method is lower blood pressure!
When thinking about adding CBD into your daily wellness routine remember that it SHOULD NOT be used as a replacement for your prescribed blood pressure medicine. It should be taken about thirty minutes to an hour after taking your prescribed BP medication. Over time the holistic effects of CBD will become evident and your body will begin to respond with a consistently lower BP. At this point, your doctor may prescribe a lower prescription dosage. But, this should not be an alternative method to manage your blood pressure without a doctor.
What if you aren’t on any blood pressure medications but your family has a history of high blood pressure? Then CBD is an excellent option for preventative care! A daily dose of CBD can help your body function at optimal levels and reduce your chances of needing blood pressure medications in the near future.
How is High Blood Pressure Caused
High blood pressure generally falls under the two categories below:
-1. Primary or Essential Hypertension: This type of blood pressure is brought on gradually over the years Some doctors believe its cause can be brought on gradually due to the plaque building up on the walls of the arteries.
-2. Secondary Hypertension: This type of blood pressure is brought on suddenly from an underlying condition. Conditions or medications that can be attributed to this sudden development are listed below:
- Adrenal gland tumors
- Blood vessel problems present at birth, also called congenital heart defects
- Cough and cold medicines, some pain relievers, birth control pills, and other prescription drugs
- Illegal drugs, such as cocaine and amphetamines
- Kidney disease
- Obstructive sleep apnea
- Thyroid problems
Which Type of CBD Should I Be Using?
When considering the best CBD for high blood pressure, a broad or full spectrum will be best. A broad spectrum contains all the beneficial cannabinoids needed for the holistic effects of CBD to help with your high blood pressure. While the healthy cannabinoids are all present the broad-spectrum formula will contain no THC. (Quick reminder: THC is the psychoactive substance in weed and is recognized as the addictive substance of marijuana.) The full spectrum formula contains a small amount of THC and is beneficial for people with particularly high-stress levels. The trio effect of CBD, additional cannabinoids and THC has a boosted effect on the body!
Delta Premium offers a broad-spectrum and full-spectrum CBD tincture oil. A daily half dropper is a great place to start when thinking of preventative high blood pressure care. A full dropper is great if you have already been diagnosed with high blood pressure.
We also offer a daily capsule that can be taken as a vitamin and has a slow-release capsule to give you the benefits of CBD for an extended period of time.
We do not recommend a CBD isolate product unless it is in addition to a full/broad-spectrum product. A CBD isolate is very effective for managing stress and anxiety. Read about why in one of our other posts here.
